Coil-overs vs. springs

Hey everybody, a friend of mine who owns a shop told me that for my extensive driving it would suit my needs more to lower my car with springs (ex: eibach) than with coil-overs since it is improbable to get each coil-over adjusted exactly at the same height in each corner of the car leading to tread wear rapidly (compared to just having springs). Any opinions??

First of all, let me clear something up. Ground controls, R1's, OBX's, all these so-called coilovers are not true coilover systems. They are just adjustable springs. True coilovers, such as those made by TEIN are much much more expensive because they are a complete system, strut and all.

Now, if you are driving a lot in your car. I would totally recommend getting regular springs. They will generally give you a better ride.

Personal opinion.....I went w/ springs and upgrading w/ struts soon......
You dont get the Exact ride height you want,, and you cant adjust them all the time.......
But you have a nice non bumpy ride........well not as bumpy as coilovers.........all my friends have coilovers.......Personally i cant stand to ride in their car......Waaaay to bumpy........
but some people like that....whatever floats your boat i guess........

in my opinion coil overs would be good if you show ur car a lot,,,you can drop the car on its nutts at the show and bring back up afterwards....everyone that i know with coilovers, after they found the drop that they like they kept it there and never messed with it again...

all spring/strut/shock applications are coil over design, coil over basically means the coil is over the shock/strut. some vehicles place the spring next to the shock/strut, this is not a coil over.

so we should start calling them "adjustable" coil overs as that is what ground control makes. an eibach spring is still a coil over as that is the design.

just some fyi.

1028 yes is the answer to your question...the lower you with coilovers the crappier your ride is gonna be, replacing the struts will help...
