ecu questioning
ecu questioning
i was thinking about chipping my ecu to save money from getting a stand alone, and was wondering if anyone has any info on how to chip a 05 civic lx and what maps would have the best gains in mid-higher rpms, or if anyone knows how to make their own maps, that would be much appreciated cause im low on cash at the moment and have soldering skills and whats the point in going stand alone when you cant afford it and could do basically the same thing with your own ecu?
yea it aint gonna happen man.... e-manage, apexi-AFC, or AEM ems are all ya really can do and if your wanting a BAD *** system then do the AEM, if you just want something good to tune your stock ecu with use e-manage, if you want to do.... nothing... use the AFC... they dont do anything for our cars....
I will have to agree with boilermaker, and wayfastwhity. There is no "chip" you can pop in and make it go faster. Do not be fooled by the ebay garbage, all it is, is a resistor that makes your car think you are bringing in colder air than you really are, which makes it run richer. Our cars run rich already, so it will not help. There is no cheap way to make your car perform better. I just purchaced the e-manage blue, and PnP harness from dezod, and the software from mohd. It cost a little bit, however i think this is the most cost effective solution. The apexi VAFCII allows you to tune your fuel at WOT ONLY, and says it can adjust VTEC however talking to DEZOD who is a 7th gen guru says it cant do it effectively and there have been no proven gains by adjusting it.

VAFCII is only good for a hybrid a1 with a2 head setup. As for a "chip" our cars are obd-2 so only way it is possible is with an obd-1 ecu swap. but then again there is another problem. no obd-1 computer out there to support the d17 distributerless ignition.
I know the perfect way to chip our cars.
1. Take ECU out
2. Grab tuning device (I.E Hammer)
3. Swing real hard
4. Blam there ya go You have officially Chipped the hell out of it.
Seriously though Just buy E-manage, or AEM EMS. There is no other convienient way to make our ECU better
