Exhaust Piping size
I'm about to buy an exhaust system for my 01 coupe ex. And debating on whats better and I need some help. Whats the difference between 2.25" piping and 2.5" piping. (Besides the size. DUH!) what does it do with performance and sound? I know it all depends on what you have on your car and what kind of muffler you get. But I'm asking in general. whats the difference between the two sizes?

No SOHC will get much if any performance out of an exhaust system. with a 2.5 you will lose Tq. If you are looking for a different sound get an Axle back, and save yourself some money.

its up to you, some people like getting cat back and some people like getting axleback, now there is really only one axleback that most people have and its called the hks hi power. An axle back exhaust is basically an exhaust from the axle-back(rear wheels) i personally like a cat back exhaust because there are more options to choose from than just an axleback

well, what about piping size with a catback for our cars. i hear about 2.25 and 2.5 inch piping and something to do with back pressure and naturally aspirated engines.
I might get one of these two. I just wondering about piping size. cuz one is 2.25. and the other is 2.5 (copy and open in new explorer. havent reached my 15 post minimum to post links)

ok ok ok...
Axel back = Cat back just FYI.
Go with 2.25 if you just geting bolt on mods.
Turbo? Go with 2.50 OR if your a bad *** with some crazy T3/T4 or some thing like that get the 3.0 inch piping.
PS: I have Apex-i N1 exhaust & I love it!!!

I bet the HKS hi power axle back is the "same length" as say Apex-i's cat back.
They both start to bolt up after the cat.

Whatever. Post pics if you like.
axel-back and cat-back are not the same
Axel back bolts up by the rear axel. Cat connects to midpipe then the midpipe connects to the axel back exhaust.
Catback bolts up to the back of the cat. Replaces the midpipe with the larger size, ie. 2.5, 2.25.
Hence, catbacks are generally more expensive.
Axel back exhaust, generally will not be as loud as a cat back system, so, there is a better chance of not being noticed by the cops.
PM me if you have any more questions. You can talk to Dezod or Truehonda or any other vendor on this site and they can explain the differences of each model to you.

I got Kamikaze header with 2.25 custom exhaust with MagnaFlow Universal Catalytic Converter-53000 Series and 2.25- Vibrant proformance Stainless Steel Resonator ending with HKS Hi-power muffler
sounds good but I think I lost low end and gained top....
I think any bigger would only hurt you performance wise
