17's and speedometer
If you add 17" rims, you should decrease your tire sidewall accordingly, so that OVERALL wheel diameter stays the same approximately. Use a tire calc to see how much you're off. Try not to go more than +/- 2.5%.
17" wheels with a 205/40/17 tire will not affect your speedometer to a degree that you'll notice. You won't need to do anything unless your overall tire & wheel diameter is bigger around than your factory diameter.

I may add, if your new wheel is smaller than your stock wheel, you are going slower than what the speedo said. and vice versa
One more thing, if you're really worried about it or just plain ****, you ca always take it somewhere to get the spedo calibrated. I think it might be a little expensive though and like was said before, it doesnt throw it off that much anyway so I'm not that worried about it.
I have 215/40/17, although I have never installed it yet cause of this stupid winter season. Hopefully it doesn't slow me down. that's all I'm worried about
