the HX have the VTEC-E... its not really a true VTEC. under 2500 only 1 intake valve opens anything above and its like a normal non-VTEC engine.

WTF? Now here's a crack head. Uhm do you know anything about the last 16 years of Honda's 16v engines? Well, do you know about 2 intake valves and 2 exhaust valves for every cylinder, one primary, one secoundary for each intake/exhaust. The primary and secoundary have pistons in the rocker arm which gets oil pressure via the rockershaft, via the vtec solinoid, which is controlled by the ECU. Well, I have better things to do, later.

I am going to just get my own manual, I was thinking maybe someone with a HELMS manual would post some info. For all you retards saying I can feel it at 4k-4.5k rpm, you are just feeling max torq output. The automatics have a lower switchover point because they have a more closer cam lobe spec. So having the cross over at a lower rpm is smoother. With the manuals the vtec lobe is more significant and needs a higher rpm cross over for less lag and faster acceleration. I know it's more than 5k rpm and less than 5.6k rpm. Fuel cutoff is at 7,200 rpm. But like I said at the top, I'm going to just get my own damn manual. Thanks for all the posts though!

First of all you obviously don't know your facts...second I have posted on this subject many times...search for it... I know they have 16 valves And I know how VTEC works...but VTEC-E on the HX is different then the regular SOHC VTEC. For the last freaking time. Get your information right.

Guys, I got a vtec controller and it shows that it opens Not all the times, depends on some factors, but if you are in first gear, it opens at +-3500. Not at 4000,4500,5000 or what ever. Other way to check it is hooking a led into the vtec wire. If you are in neutral, vtec won't open. Again it depends on driving conditions. There is not a pre-set engagement point! See it by your self! hook a 12v bulb or a voltmeter to the vtec wire to see what I am saying.

the point is... we can't even hear our vtec because it sucks. we can't feel it or hear it. therefore, it's like having no vtec.

Yeah that kinda makes me mad...but oh well i guess as long as we know we have it...I don't think its that great anyways, I would rather have a stock turbo on like a eclipse or something over the VTEC.

Well if you want to feel the vtec engagement then buy a Toda, Jun, or a Crower cam with the largest profile you are willing to cope with.

Yeah ha ha, if you have the bucks and know about designing cam specs have them make a custom cam.
