whoot i just degreased my engine last nite, and i didnt cover a thing, like i waited like 45 min for my engine to cool off(i washed my car during this time) and then after that i mixed some simple green with some water like 50/50 then sprayed my engine down, and let it soak in for like 5 minutes, then i used the concentrate itself on really crappy places. After that i power washed the engine, making sure not to stay in one place for a long time, likw just a sweeping motion. I also watched out for getting water in my stock intake/air filter. After that i just wiped off some of the plastic pieces with a terry towl, and that was it, now its shinin'
Not a bad way to do things, my only concern would be dirt or grease and simple green getting onto the paint and windshield from powerwashing. thats why i usually wash my car after i do the engine, but if everything looked good then no worries

well like while i was power washin my engine like, some would get on my side panels and windshield, so i spreyed the front of the car down, then i started spraying my engine from the back towards the front. Lol i didnt think it all the way throgh the first time, so i ended up having to dry the front of my car again.
Nice four month bump!
Okay, here's my contribution. Be careful not to spray any water near the air intake system. It's easier NOT to get water in your system if you're sporting the OEM air instake system. I always made a habit to stuff some dry rags and/or Zip-Lock bags around the intake piping on my Civic and CBR whenever I'm using water.
