Burning Plastic Smell

Hve any of you had a smell coming off your engine that smells like melting plastic. I have checked the engine bay multiple times and can't visually see anything that would create this smell. I smell it only when I turn my car off....Weird Shi*t, I am taking it to the dealer Sat. but was wondering if anyone else had this problem...Thanks !!

No, but I do have ceramic headers, but I got them like 4 months ago, so I know it;s not the "burning in" smell.
All I see on the web is that it could be a short circuit of the electrical system somewhere...but it's under my hood, and
right there next to my accessory pullies and brake fluid resevior. ????? It's tripping me out, and it's been doing it for 3 days !!
I may need to check my headlight cables...i just recently cleared them and got PIAA HID's, blue parking lights and hyperwhite blinkers...
but it's too dam*n cold outside.

my buddy had this problem on his old escort and it ended up being a plastic bag stick to his exhaust.

hey don't complain about the temp, take a vacation to toronto in late november! Iam sure youve checked your headers for clearence of any plastic objects, so you can probobly rule that out... these kind of weird things can drive you crazy after a while.... i would suggest taking it to honda if it's the type of thing that happens super frequently. let them drive it around and then figure it out.

The only time I smelled something close to a burning plastic smell was when I first got the car, they coat the engine
at the factory and that burns off during the first 1000 miles.

I remember that burning smell too. At the time, I had just recently bought my 2K1 Civic and I had just lowered it. As soon as I lowered it, I started smelling that "Plastic Burning" smell. At first I thought it was just my tires rubbing on the fenderwell or something, but I kept checking and didn't notice any marks on the fenderwell. The smell finally just went away about 1 1/2 weeks. I wish it would be the same for you. ... . Wait about 1 1/2 weeks. I mean, if it was anything really damaging to the engine, you would probably already notice small things since your car is new.
