head unit question on EX....
i've heard that if you replace the head unit on the EX or any other 2k1 with remote entry, that the remote entry won't work. is this true?
<< the oem keyless entry will only work with the stock head unit >>
Who told you that? I have an aftermarket headunit and my keyless entry still works. A lot of people on here have aftermarket decks and their keyless entry systems still work. The only civic that I know of where the keyless entry didn't work with aftermarket headunit was the 96-97 Civic... The problem got corrected in 98 and on...

Why didn't you do a little research before buying a system because a dealer said it wouldn't work. Can you send me some many since you don't seem to care too much about it?? Back to the original question, the keyless entry system works find with my kenwood deck
i also have and after market i replaced myself and my keyless works fine. my friends 98 is the only year that you needed the stock cd player to keep the keyless working he has his stock cdplayer behind his center console somewhere. lol that sucks.

6thgen civics had the situation where the keyless entry was integrated into the factory HU. the same thing happens with new cavaliers. if you take out the stock hu on them you lose door chimes, keyless entry, security, etc.
