Sealing DIY Headlights?

I am planning on clearing my headlights soon and I have a question. I was told by a member here that they didn't use any additional sealent to seal their DIY headlights and they have never had any problems. They said that the gooey black stuff sealed back together when putting them back together and would reharden and create a bond like the origional. Has anyone tried this or would it even work? I dont want any future problems. Thanks

the orignal seal MIGHT work but you should play it safe and re-seal them. i even double-sealed them just to be sure

I got in a car wreck, and the body shop had to clear the replaced headlight, and they didnt use any sealant, and they aren't fogging at all, but I have fog in the one that I did, and I resealed it with silicone and everything. What can I do to get rid of the fog in that one? should I just seal it again, or will that moisture get trapped in if i do?

i cleared my headlights about four months ago. originally i bought a tube of sealant to use like this site recommended. when i put the lights back together the original seal was enough after using a hair dryer for a couple minutes so the tube of seal i bought was a waste. it is a good idea to buy some just incase though

should be ok..
i wouldn't risk it myself..
it's really easy just to apply some silicone..takes like 5mins max..i think it's worth it..
the stuff isn't even expensive of anything..
