Regarding the "auto trans hack"...sorry guys

Well i went ahead today and took out my center console to check out this whole deal with the auto transmission having a usable first gear. If you didnt know, someone found that theres a very faint lighted up "1" below the 2nd gear on the console, so i checked it out today to see whats blacking us from having that usable 1st gear. SO i unbolted the shift linkage to see if that was it and it wasnt. But there is a plastic piece that acts as a lock so it can't be pulled back past our 2nd gear. So anyway, i pulled the linkage down to where our 2nd gear is, then pulled again, and sure enough it went down to where the 1st gear should be. So i went right out and drove around and i brought the car down to the supposed 1st gear. But then to my dissapointment i found it did the same exact thing as when you start out in 2nd gear, so i assume it's our ecu that doesnt let us do it. It should have worked, but it'd definetly something with our ECU that won't allow it to happen. O well, at least now we know.

The car starts off in first anyways, so what are you goin to achieve?? Did you mat the throttle and hope it wouldn't shift from 1st?

The point is to keep in first longer, so that you can move it up a notch when you hit the rpm's you want.

I feel that Punk. Im turnin 18 this week and I kno how you feel about gettin a lil more edge out of our inline 4. We kids dont got much money so we try our best gettin things done. I also have an automatic and we all kno the 1st gear is pretty critical. What I do is knoin we have a rev-limiter around 7.1-7.2 I try to hit it as best as I can without shakin/hurting the engine. If you jus sit there at the line and floor the car (KEEP IN MIND I HAVE AN EX, this can differ) The shift will automatically shift about 6.65-6.7 a shade under the redline. So when it hits around 6.5 I shift to Neutral while still flooring it and shift back down to 2nd around 7.1. (White ur car is in gear and we do not have a 1st gear shiftbox it won't let us hit redline..BUT the N will let us go all the way to rev-limiter. This has tested out great! I do have a G-Force I can use and helps me with timing and junk.
If we leave it into 'D' and floored it this will happen: (1-st to 2nd gear only)
Shift around 6.65
Start 2nd around 4.4
When I do it manually:
Shift at 7.1
Start 2nd around 4.7

If u want more detail jus ask and Im sure some ppl have tried this before.
Bye, Good luck
Louis-
