CEL out of the blue...

So I drive my school to car this morning and park it...nothing wrong with it on the drive over. About 7 hours later, I come back and start up the car letting it warm up before I head home. About 15 seconds into the car starting, the engine light comes on...great right...

I call up the stealership to see how much to check the code is $99 and an appointment. no thanks.

Thing is, I haven't done any engine mods. Oil change at regular intervals, car has 78XXXK but with the tires messing up the speedo...it's less than that...

I have no idea why the CEL came on. I did a quick search to find anything, and I didn't really see much. My friend said to check all the hoses and what not and nothing seems out of place. I havne't even touched the engine as far as modding.

Any Ideas?

Cliffs: CEL came on after school. No engine mods. Plugs seem fine. 78K miles.

could be a number of things. take it to a parts store like autozone and have them check the code and then you will know what it is.

i would just reset the car and see if it still goes on after that. i forget to reset my car after a couple oil changes and cel pops up and after reseting it goes away. other wise if it still comes on go to autozone.

just cause you havent done any mods or touched your car doesnt mean that parts wont fail. you have tons of electrical items that work together will the ECU to run your vehicle and at any given time one of those parts may fail internally. sometimes the car will still run fine, other times it will start running like ****. Now you could have something as simple as a bad IAT sensor or bad MAP sensor or O2 sensor, or could be a bad cat converter, EGR valve, or a problem internally with the tranny (yes I said tranny because you have tranny codes) etc... it could be anything. once you find out what the code is, then you can go from there. Dont worry about it though, it isnt a big deal.
