Question regarding muffler

Hey,

I bought a muffler for my Civic 01. I could have replaced the exhaust, but it was kinda expensive so I just bought a new muffler.

I thought Civic 01 (2 door) have resonator and I could just remove that and get a loud sound but I guess I was wrong.

Can't believe Civic 01 doesn't have resonator.

Anyways now my question is, is there a way to make my car a bit more louder then what it is now with a muffler?

Please advice....

i'm pretty sure it has a resonator, but i think it's all one piece. i don't remember really cause i got my stock one cut off so long ago, but if i remember correctly, it's all connected and one part of it would be the resonator. you'll just have to do some custom work if you want to take out the resonator and add an aftermarket muffler. getting custom piping shouldn't be more than 100-150 bucks at most places depending on where you live.

Ya I have an 01 LX coupe and mine had a resonator. It's not sitting in my basement but it did come with one. Not to make you sound stupid or anything, but if you want I can take a picture of it to make sure you just didn't miss it when you were looking for it.

Hey, I didn't even look at it yet.
When I got my muffler installed from a professional he said he didn't find any resonator. He also said its all one piece only and I believed him.

But after reading the replies here, I doubt if the guy is right. To be frank, I never quite believed him when he said my Civic 01 doesn't has a resonator. I can't image a Car without a resonator, it will be just way too loud for a stock car.

Anyways, since its all one piece, I dunno where to look for a resonator. A pic would do, I guess.

Cheers

the stock exhaust has the long pipe that comes off of the cat. then a joint to the resonator then another joint to the muffler. You mechanic must be losing his eyesight.
