i was charged 75 bucks at CAR X. now mine didnt sound like much of ne thing. and i got an APEXI N1. i eventually got 2.25 piping. theres another muffler looking thing that is behind the muffler and that is what keeps the sound to a minimum. but to answer ur question initially i paid 75
If you're just gonna have it welded on without getting bigger piping from the cat back, then you wasted your money buying a muffler. Without getting larger piping, all you will have is a lot of noise and absolutely no gains. If you insist on just having your muffler slapped on by itself, then you're probably looking at $40. However, I and probably everyone else on this site will recommend that you get the 2.25" piping doe from the cat all the way back. That should run anywhere from $75 - $175. A lot of people have paid a lot of different prices...
damn yo that is a ripoff. Join a car club or start knowin ppl that work at places like that -
I got my exhaust for my Si, got custom tubing, hangers, welding and install for 20 bucks.

sad story, i know, but im bored. but i have a 2k1 EX and my friend has a 98 EX and we always race when we get the chance (every light) well we'd be even at start and slowly i'd pull away in second then anilate him in third. he just bought thermal and put it on and now its even start im faster in second (not by much)and then in third he pulls ahead of me. so exaust does help in hp or speed. oh yeah it was full cat back though, but it was used, from a friend of ours with a 96 ex.

either the catback helped or your friend learned how to race overnight.
