Hey guys, I did a search but didn't find anything. I know there are some electrical experts in here, so the question is,
how do you wire a power outlet into your car so you can plug something in for power? I'm really curious...

you mean something with a household plug? you need an inverter for that. it plugs into your cig outlet.

iono if youre talkin about this....but a know a guy wid a bimmer...and he wired an outlet next to his rearview mirror so that the cord to his radar doesnt droop down on the dash or ne thing...if we're talkin about the same thing...i wanna know how to do it too.

I did a clean install for my detector. You can find this flap of rubber on the door by the driver. If you get a thin wire, you can run it underneath this flap down to the dash. From here just pass it through the dash and over to power. You'll see what I mean. I like my stealth radar cus if a cop pulls you and you have a detector, you can bet on a ticket.

Thanks for the replies guys, but I was thinking more along the lines of plugging in a PS2, etc. I know I can buy in inverter to plug into my cig lighter, but I want to make a plug. Like place the outlet into that button cover next to the cig lighter. Anyone?.... [IMG]i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif[/IMG]

what you'll want to do is hardwire an inverter somewhere in your car.. then.. from there modify an extension cord that runs up to wherever you want it to go. you'll have to design some sort of outlet tho, since you willm ost like not be able to find one that would fit in any retail store.

i do remember hearing about the toyota matrix having a power outlet up front for plugging in laptops and such. might wanna look into that.
