Helm Manual and Bolt Sizes

This is a weird question.. I have a helm manual and I've been using it and love it, currently I'm replacing my struts/springs. What i've noticed is that I don't think I know how to read a bolt size... sound weird enough for you...

Like for Instance the bolts on top of the front struts on top of the damper.. in the manual it says they are 10 x 1.25 mm 44 N M and gives the torque spec... Now, first glance I thought they were either 10mm or 12.5 mm if you multiply 10x1.25...Now they are really, 14mm.. or atleast they take a 14mm socket..

Same thing on the bolt on the tie rod end, it takes a 17mm socket, however in the manual it list it as 10x1.25 ... same thing as the other one but this one is 17mm not 14... but it does say it's 43 Nm...

I know this is a weird question.. I actually feel like a dumba** by even posting this but it's killing me... I think it's a common sense thing but please, help me out....

Thanks

Brad

Bolts are measured by the thread pitch, not the size socket you need to un-do it

I feel like an idiot... I knew that.. I haven't been able to work on cars for about 3 years and now I own a house and have a garage for the first time in my life so I started picking the wrench up... Thanks for the answer... I knew that, as soon as I read your response, I was like doh!!

majestic's site through me off to.. cause it will just say like nut 14mm and i'm thinking, that isn't 14mm... doh... Thanks again...
