TURTLE: How did you remove the carpet on the door panels and put new on?
Turtle or anyone else that knows how: How do I take those panels off? I imagine putting new fabric on isent very hard either, but if you have any tips for me there either I would appreciate it. Someone please tell me how to do this i allready had the suede sent in custom ordered heh. Thanks for your time
I believe you just take the door panel off (duh) and if you look at the back of the panel, I think you can see the edge of the carpet. If I remember correctly, you just peel the carpet right off because its only held on with glue. I hope this helps somewhat.
There is a diy that he posted somewhere in the the technical forums. Try a search on it, I know I read it last week - although it's older than that. I want to put some nice swede - sp? on my doors.

I'll tell you straight up, it isnt all to easy. It take s alot of effort and time. Must be patient to do this!!!
Take the door panels off.
Completely remove the pull handle.
Where the pull handle went through at top, there is an opening. Start here and start pulling. Don't think it will come out easy. You have to pull quit hard. DO NOT TEAR THE MATERIAL. You will need the material for templates.
Once you have the insert out, you'll see that there is still bits of materail stuck to the panel. I used a razor blade to take all this off. I didnt try anything else, so I dont know of an alternative method.
Using the material you just took out, trace it onto a piece of cardboard (not corugated paper, what brown boxes are made of). For a Coupe, youll only have one template (I cant remember if there is material in the back seat, if so, youll have two templates), and for sedans youll have 2 templates.
Lightly spray your template with adhesive, I said lightly.
Lay template onto back side of material.
Cut out material around egdes of template.
Remove template.
Tape off door panel so you only spray adhesiveon the inside of the door panel where the material goes.
Spray the door panel and the back side of the material with adhesive. Dont get too spray happy.
Carefully set the material ontop of the door panel. Make sure it lines up right.
Starting from inside, smoothen the material working your way out.
Use a plastic spreader of some sort to push the materail into the edges.
Cut out the hole where the door pull goes through (where you started pulling at).
Reinstall everything.
If all has been done correctly it will look good. As I said at the begining, it takes patience!!
