Splicing 12v instead of plugging in?

I was thinking about buying a 12v PS2 adapter at Futureshop to put my PS2 in the car. Obviously I want to do it all behind the dash, what's the best method for this? I was going to cut the wire and splice into the 12v behind the dash, would this be best? Where would I find which wires?

I got a link to the adapter on their website but can't post it because of my noob restrictions.

Oops, I meant to post that second post about pushing the metal bar INSIDE that DIY for removing the stereo. I'm having problems with that too. Still wondering about the 12v though, just ignore the second post or check it out in the other thread! oops...

I'll try stripping it back like delusional1 said. Thanks and keep the help coming!

you should never tap into the stock wiring. run a power wire from the battery and use a relay. ive heard too many horror stories about stock wiring.
