auto locking locks
Is it possible to get the doors to lock automatically at a certain speed or time? Like after getting into the car, starting it, driving off and the doors lock automatically. A friend's ford focus does it and I wish mine would. Is this possible?
yea i just installed the viper alarm system and it does it on its own by locking the door when i put it in gear nd start moving and when i come to a stop nd turn off the car it does it vice versa. so yes its possible to auto lock/unlock.

I was aware that some aftermarket alarms do it, but civic's don't come with actual alarms (at least my '01 EX didn't) from the factory, just keyless entry. My brother had the dealer change the locking program to lock on his 330xi to at 12mph. Obviously BMW is, well...BMW. I'm not trying to put our cars on that level, but just for the sake of comparison. Is it possible to have a dealer/mechanic program a factory setup with no alarm to do the same?

it could be done with two relays tapped into the ignition wire. It would only cycle the locks when the ignition is turned on or off. Ill draw up a diagram if your interested
my 02 ex automatically locks after i start my car and once I turn the motor off it automcatically unlocks the doors this is with the Factory Alarm. Its funny when my friends ride with me cause u see them sitting there waiting for me to shut the motor off so they can get out, they are too lazy to "hit the button".
Last time I had this much fun some furniture got broken!

my 02 ex once i put it in 1st and got to like 5-10mph it automaticly locked. then once i turned off my car it automaticly unlocked. i got a viper alarm, and apparently that does it too. but out of the dealer with just the OEM keyless entry. it did what you want.

Yeah I'm thinking I'll just go the alarm route. I was reading the operation manual for the factory alarm on handa-accessories.com website and it said nothing to the effect of the doors locking when the car is started, at a certain speed, etc. Is this just a program the alarm automatically has or does it need to be adjusted to do the auto lock?
CenZ says his 02 was able to be adjusted so I'm wondering if that's the case with this one from H and A.

Wait, read here that someone's '01 ex didn't come stock with an alarm... mine did? did I luck out?
