but do you get check engine lights ever? what for?
and to everyone, did i read right that in order to reset or disengage the rev limiter and speed limiter i NEED aem ems, i cant like unplug something and put a resistor or block the signal?
I got one codes for engine misfiring but thats because with the cam its way to rich. I fixed that by advancing my cam gear until i get it tuned. And i got the code for running to rich. But nothing else yet. Besides i am pretty sure i am going with aem ems so i won't have to worry. And yes to take off the rev limiter and speed limiter you need aem ems. Just talk to Edward from Truehonda he will help you out with all your needs
ive got my hookups, i can get the ems for around 35% off most likely but i just bought all my stuff and havent even put anything in yet so i might just calm down for a while and if anything causes problems maybe ill upgrade down the road.

Yeah the loaded the WRONG FIRMWARE!!!! Supposed to be 1.19 had 1.11....aparently a factory booboo so I have been told!! Talkin about headaches for nothing!! Gotta do the 1.11 to 1.19 conversion tomorrow AM and hopefully it will be done after that!! I will let you all Know. CIVICSKATER RPM motorsports in Garner is doing the tuning. Once I get done with the tuning and get my new SSBC brakes on I would not mind getting up to hang, besides i might need your help to pass emissons if you wanna make a fast buck for a couple hours of your time. I will holla once I get done!

Yeah best part is they were a bunch of ****** on tech support...the guy was sighing at us on the phone and shizzy....seriously their customer service BLOWS guys....think twice about buying this....and don't expect much help if you have problems...takes about 2 days for them to return your call if they even return it. Buyer be Weary.
Yea, they are not the best to deal with but they have put a lot of R/D Time into their product so it almost speaks for itself. And they also know its about the only route for total engine management.

UPDATE: unit stopped communicating with laptop. I called tech support and they said that the eprom went bad and overnighted one to me. I got to the shop the next AM and put the new eprom in. Guess what......same thing. So I called them again and was told an RMA # to ship the whole EMS back....it went out this AM next day air so we will see....found a burnt resistor on the main board going to pin E4 which is the output ground for the fuel pump...to turn it on and off. I checked the wiring from ecu to the pump iteslf and had no voltage feedback or a short/ open line. All the connections tested fine in the car. So they are going to fix it and ship it back i was told....guess we will see how this saga continues... Till then stay tuned for the repeated beating of my head on the wall untill i pass out from the stars or intense pain.

yeah well you are probably right , but you know i have learned alot about the EMS having to trouble shoot it. I think in the long run i might pay a bit more but i have gained quite a bit of know how for the future also. So it kinda evens out. Not really worried about price so much as just getting it done right, if their crap would work like it is supposed to.....sigh......HEADS UP: still no word from AEM on repair status, they should have gotten the unit Monday i sent it overnight to them.

Nokturnl,
I just read this whole thread and looked into it. They have your box and were trying to see why it is drawing more current than usual. I had them just strip it out and install an entire new EMS inside your case. Don't need to hold you up while we play scientist.
The coolant issue is strange. Why didn't you just use the 2K1-2K5 civic basemap that was supplied with it? It had the correct cal already programmed in. Also, the correct wizard for the coolant temp sensor on the 1030 EMS is the "Honda, 30-1030 Only". It is different from ALL other Hondas bacuse the factory computer is providing the signal. The EMS Tech support should have caught that.
Also, Version 1.11 is fine for your car. All the development was done on V1.11. After your box was shipped, we did a general software update to 1.19 but you do not need to update unless a new feature found only in 1.19 is needed. The running of the car will not be any different under 1.11 or 1.19.
Some of these issues would likely not have happened with an AEM Trained Tuner. We do not get any money from the work they do, we just want to see the customers not have to pay a tuner to learn our system. we will train the tuners for free just so this type of stuff does not happen.
Also, just because a tuner is not AEM trained does not mean he does not know how to tune. The training is mainly in HOW to make the EMS do what you want it to do.
