My buddy took a saw to the shifter on his 94 civic......pretty simple if you ask me. Throw the boot and shift **** on, and voila! Good luck (don't saw your fingers off).

Why don't you just get a different ****? The one I bought made mine significantly shorter.

why buy when you can diy. most people are short on money these days and would do anything cheap to fix something up in their car. would rather spend $5 than $40 somethign dollars.

i just did that 2 days ago. i used a dremel tool and cut an inch and a half then weld it back together. for those with the adapter you will notice that the throw between 1,3,and5 to neutral will be the same as neutral to 2,4,and r.before that it was like 1,3,and5 to neutral were longer than 2,4,and r. kinda confusing.

I cut about 2 inches and it looks good and it feels nice,
What i did is that I took the whole piece out, cut 2 aprox. 2 inches between the threads and right before the curve, I took it to a muffler shop, weld it shave it, and pait it, so I am using the oem shift **** and boot!

I just changed the ****. It is way shorter now, prolly 2 inches shorter. I stitched the oem boot so it fits snug around the shifter and against the ****.

i cut about 2.5-3 inches off mine. it only took 45 minutes!!! i strongly recomend the swazall if your blessed with ANYTHING but hand tools. with the tornactive shifter, the bottom of the **** is flush with the console that the shifter is mounted in.

If you're gonna cut the shifter.. DO NOT weld the threaded part back on..The shifters are made of a pretty cheap metal and you'll find youself screwed when you hear a "snap" and your shifter broke.. Get an Aftermarket shiftknob..Cut the threads off "a little more" if you want it even lower..throw on the Aftermarket ****.. I Did alotta work to re-thread the rod.. had to shave it down to 8.6mm again and re-thread it to get the stock **** back on.. Got bored.. cut it down another 1" put on a stubby Billet alum shift ****.. It's now level with the console and with the SS adapter the **** moves about 2.5" back and forth between gears
