Removing the Head
Removing the Head
Ok I have a EX engine in my garage and I started to remove the head this morning, I wonder if I am on the right track and what is left?
Here is what I have done so far
remove the valve cover
Remove the cover to the cam gear
Unscrewed the 8 or 9 bolts holding down the things with the springs.
I can see the camshaft right under.
Am I am the right track, and what else is there for me to do? I want to get real specific, because I do not want to take off the vtec silenoid by mistake.

you removed about only a few things out of several parts.
to sum it up for you, you need to remove:
Negative cable to battery
drain engine coolant
remove throttle cable
crusie control cable
intake resonator
air cleaner housing
remove brake booster hose
Remove PCV hose
relieve fuel pressure
remove evap canister hose
remove ground cable
remove upper and lower radiator hose
remove water bypass hose
remove connecting pipe from water passage
remove power steering pump without disconnecting lines
Remove Poqwer steering bolt
remove the alternator
remove AC hose bracket And PS bracket
remove engine wire harness connectors and clamps
There are several connecters to remove (IAC, TPS, MAP, Purge valve, Radiator fan switch, CMP, CPS, VTEC oil pressure switch, oil sensor, ECT, EGR)
support engine with jack under oil pan
remove upper bracket
remove exhaust manifold
remove intake manifold
remove ignition coils
remove throttle cable clamps
remove valve cover
remove timing belt
remove camshaft pulley and back cover
remove bolts to cylinder head and remove head
there are all these things to do when removing the head. I am assuming people who have done it several times know a shorter cut, but I dont. And I doubt there is one.
