Intake Question
Whats happenin everybody?
question for everybody, I'm new to the import scene and trying to learn as much as possible about our car. question is this, i have an automatic (i know i know) 2001 ex, as far as intakes go should i get an AEM short ram, Injen cold air, or Injen race division intake. I'm not looking to race my car, but I'm just getting out of a V6 and im struggling with the 1.7L V4 so I want to add some power.
Thanks for the suggestions

Well, I went from the chevy 4.3L in my little Sonoma tothis engine and find this engine a whole lot better. I added a 300 dollar magnaflow exhaust and a cheap intake i got off of e-bay for like 50 bucks and i notice a big difference. hope this helps a little
<< Just adding an intake will not give you any large gain in power, at least nothing you can feel >>
True......but it will look and sound great (which are the other 2 reasons we buy "performance" parts for our slow cars)
to tell you the truth the intake is the only thing that has greatest gains of hp
its 4.2 hp for the intake plus its cheaper than an exhaust.......which is about 600 dollars and only 2.8 hp gain (read this somewhere )forgot

I am not sure but every 4cyl engine I have had you can feel the difference if you get just an intake. Since these civics have such a small liter size, I assume that a little bit more air would help. There are a lot of things you can to do your car to make it fly, but since you just want it to feel better, almost like a v6, your screwed. You can however get a little better responce if you add an intake (anything from just a new k&n air filter to and all out intake system) and a little less responce if you add custom exhaust. However, to save some money, I sugest you go get a custom one built at a muffler shop, instead of spending 300$ on a magnaflow. The only difference is really the pipe is not as shinny, but then again not too many people will crawl under you car and check. Just get a nice pretty tip and you probably wont spend more that $150.

Ok, I do have plans for exhaust, but the first bolt on i'm going for is the intake, i'm hearing aem cai, but i'm not finding it anywhere for auto transmission, all i can find is sri. is injen that sh*tty, that nobody thinks i should go for either one of their cai's? thanks for the help all
GO INJEN CAI... I have it.. and it sounds badd a$$. But dont expect much HP gains from Intake/Headers/Exhaust combos. It seems our ULEV cars cant gain that much from performance parts. If you want big gains on HP try NoS or maybe waiting for an FE.
going from driving an integra GSR and then buying an additional 2k1 ... the whole in and out (inteke headers exhaust) on the Civic doesnt add that much horse... but it makes it sound nice!!
