Custom red glow cluster *DONE* pics pics pics!!!
I'm working on this for another member. The goal is to change the 2001 sedan cluster to red, in order to try and make it look like an evo cluster.
Wish me luck! I got the cluster torn apart already and cleared the back of the gauges already. All I need to do is make it red and try to get the lighting even (hardest part).
+

Here are completed pics! They are very red and look better than the evo! Nice and bright. Pics are taken at regular exposure mode and will look brighter in person. Hope you like em!!
Btw it is all done so nothing can break. Just change a bulb if they burn out. Nothing to wire up, just plug and play 01-02 year cars.

man I'm good. I decided not to use leds because it was too hard to get even light output and bright enough for the needles. I am gonna put it back and test the light tonight. I used a red filter on the back so the bulbs are stock and can easily be changed. I also had to adjust by adding thicker filter and paper to get rid of hot spots of light. I think it looks pretty good, but thats only 9v. I'll test it tonight with the car battery and have pics up tonight!

omg omg omg!!!!!!!! DONE. They are 100% perfect and better than the evo gauges. The numbers are uniform perfect brightness and pure red. Actually now the needles look orange in comparison! Numbers are 2x brighter than stock and everything looks sooooo good. I wanna keep it and rewire my car to use em!
Dude when you hook these up and turn em on, you're gonna **** yourself and this will be your face.
They are that good. Wow I'm really feeling good about myself now.
Pics are coming soon as soon as I can upload and resize. They are gonna be the first post. I'm not sure how the camera did yet, the pics might show them as amber just cause they are sooo bright. But trust me man when you look at them it will be pure red and the needles are orange-red. Wow awesome!

Thanks haha. If anyone is wondering, first I opened everything and pulled out the needles. Then pried off the faces with a knife, and used acetone and q-tips to carefully remove all the green paint behind the numbers. This is clearing them out so it is transparent and light can shine through better. Then I covered the back carefully with two layers of red taillight tape. Some spots needed more tape and a few small pieces of paper to even out the light. Since there are only 5 bulbs, it tends to be brighter in those spots, and thats where I put 4-5 layers more of tape to dim it a bit. Then put it all back together. Man it looks nice.
Now I gotta figure out how to fix my old cluster. same as this one except blue led lit needles. No backlight unfortunately. Thats what I gotta figure out.
