Rep Power: 265 transmission swap scam
ok so my tranny was gone so I replaced with another ex tranny or so I was told. I just broke it in and got to redline it today and gears seem longer. I have an 01 honda civic ex coupe and the guy i bought the tranny from said it was from an 02 ex, the reason why the ex gear ratios are short is so that you will be in vtec, my new tranny everytime i redline, i get out of vtec, so thats how i know somethings wrong.
Or could it be that honda has changed the ratios in 01 and 02? i mean the tranny i bought works fine no problems at all, only thing is that third goes up to 90 mph before with my torn up tranny, my third only went up to 80.
this is a good thing if I was turbod so ill have longer ratios in a gear but since i am back to stock it is very very bad...... any opinions will help, thank you.

i doubt that the tranny redlines at 110 cause earlier i was redlining 3rd and it went up to 90+ so im sure 4th will redline at 120+ dammmit!

Rep Power: 0 Maybe you can swap the diff, if i'm not mistaken the dx/lx was 4.25 or 4.11 and the ex was 4.40...don't remember that well, since mine is 2001 and it's been a while since i read that. you might wanna check with other guys...maybe your old diff still good...

Rep Power: 265 so whats the difference, my car wont accelerate as fast>? and why is this? so im actually losing power from this swap? also lx tarnny has longer gear ratio cuz when im cruising on 5th i still got lots more to go compared to my ex tranny which didnt let me go that high.

Rep Power: 338 all the gears will accelerate slightly slower ... more so 4th and 5th. again, think of a bicycle. It takes a lot more torque to try to spin a larger gear vs. a smaller gear.

Rep Power: 338 if you ran normal boost (8-ish), I think the shorter final drive is fine ... but if you're running higher boost, longer gears would be nice since traction is your friend.
when I was running 7 psi on my turbo, I had run dead even with an e46 M3, a FEW sti's and a modded srt4, all from a roll... I'm not sure if having a longer final drive would've changed that. I never really broke my tires loose with the final drive, so I think my EX final drive worked out great
