Rounded off bolts

So I attempted to install a cf hood today and 2 of the 4 bolts attaching the hood to the hinges got rounded off. Can anyone explain the drilling method to me so I can get these things off?...or is there any other way?

theres these tools that like reverse grip the bolts. they look sorta like they've been bored out but have these rivets in them that allow u to grasp the rounded off bolts. i think any hardware store has em. u gotta find the right size to fit over the bolt and then u can get it off. i had a problem with my lug nuts which were rounded off. used one of these sockets that are like gripping and hammered it on and wala, it came off in two seconds.

I tried vice grips. That made it even worse.
Are you talking about a special socket for rounded off bolts?

Those sockets worked great on one but there's still 1 more bolt that's too messed for the socket to fit. I'm going to try and drill the last one out in the morning.

I tried hammering but the rounded bolt was too awquardly shaped due to my previous attempts at taking it off with vice grips (big mistake). I ended up drilling it out. The bolt is destroyed but at least my new hood is on.
I appreciate the help guys.

i used those 3 step drill bits sold at autozone or any auto store, first you drill a small but not too small hole down dead center, then you use the 2nd step drill and put it inside that same hole but in reverse, and it tugs that bolt right out... make sure you have a pretty decent power drill when you attemp this...

but when i removed my rounded off oil pan bolt i used a monkey wrench and it helped actually...

you guys need to start using metric tools. Just cuz the USA is in inchs doesnt mean anything found in USA is in that system also, USA is the only country that uses imperial.
So step up to the all mighty MM and stop stripping bolts!!
