Help on fixing my stupidity.

Ok. I'm hoping this is the right place to put this question.

Mounting my spare tire underneath my car seemed like a great idea at the time, but a year or so later and I realize how dumb of an idea it was. I'm always scraping the tire cause it hangs down so low, it really doesn't look that great, plus it would be nearly impossible to get to it if I ever need it.

So I'm taking it down and putting it where it belongs again. However, here is the difficult part.

To mount the tire underneath, I had to drill a hole 1 1/2 inch diameter I think, in the floor of the trunk. After I take the spare off of there, I'm gonna have this hole in my car.

How do I patch that hole? What materials should I use?

I don't want to leave it open, cause I don't want rain, snow, etc to get up there and I want it to look as good as possible.

Thanks in advance.

Get a piece of sheet metal, some JB weld some silicone sealer and some driveway tar. JB weld the plate over the hole from the inside. Then seal the seam from underneath, the tar it over on the outside.
If you can find the seam sealer goop they used on the rest of the car, use that in leu of the driveway tar and silicone.

What if I JB Weld the plate from the inside, then silicone the underneath part, then use the undercoating stuff over that? Or do you still recommend the driveway tar?

PS. Where can you pick up JB Weld? Just any DIY place?

I was inspecting my work area and there is some black rubberlike material where the hole is. Will the metal JB Weld work correctly if I'm attaching metal to rubber? Thanks

depending on the hole, just goto home depot, buy a screw and a nut and put a bolt in it
