battery died

can someone tell me if this is the truth... we just got a 01 civic,ex lease car, very happy with it but the battery died and now the honda dealer wants $50.00 to tell me the code to reset the freaking cd /radio???i mean don't these codes come with the car?? there was no owners manual so i think the dealer should get me the code for free!!
am i right?

if its a lease they should have told u ...on mine they left it in the glove box...check there and in the manuals if not there just argue they never gave you the papers for it....but you may loose...they have the code so ***** in there court

explain that the battery died. and if they don't care tell them to do it. its only 5 numbers on the radio itself. if they don't want to give it to you tell them to do it and not tell you. but they have to unlock it for free. your leasin the radio as part of the car. call some bs on them and make them. or go to another dealership, and go to the service department and tell them you need an unlock code. thats what they did for me. ask a service department guy. not a manager of the place

i work for honda. if you can get me the serial number for the radio i can get the code. the serial number is on top of the player so if you dont have a card with the number you will have to pull it
or you can try turning off the radio and holding the 1 and 6 buttons and then press power the unit will flash 4 or 5 numbers with a u and then 4 or 5 more numbers. that is the serial number.

no. when the car comes in off the truck it has a packet in the glove box. when we do a pdi (pre-delivery inspection) we put the code on a little laminated card and put it in the glove box for the owner. you dont want to leave it in the car because if someone takes the radio they have the theft code
