vin # required for new seat belts?
vin # required for new seat belts?
I talked to someone from honda and they said that I would need to give them my vin # to order new seat belts. Why is that? They are wanting to charge over 100 per seat belt so that would be almost 400 for the set. So if anyone knows if i really need to order it from honda or if i can just buy it from someone else then just let me know.
Sorry but I already had those in my car when I had my racing seats. I want something that is safe and wont kill me if i get in a wreck. A 4 point harness isn't safe unless you secure a certain way which isn't possible without making my back seat basically ususable. So regular black seat belts is the only way I want to go

I know up until a few years ago, Nissan had a lifetime warranty on seatbelts, and I believe that Honda still does(I could call the service advisor, but she looks busy right now).

the reason for the vin # is to determine if it was the canada or japan manufactur that they were made from. When they were replacing my cv axles it was like that.
so wait not to threadjack but.. my mom's '97 pathfinder's front seatbelts no longer retract. they still lock up and everything fine, but when you unlatch it, they just sit there, and i literally have to feed it back into it's holster thing. so is this true (even out of warranty) that the company must replace them?

SB = Seatbelts - Useful life of the vehicle(1989-2002);10 years(2003- )
So yes, your mom's '97 Pathfinder has a lifetime warranty on the seatbelts. Contact the dealer, they will most likely want the VIN# and such so they can order the proper seat belts(usually Nissan has about 12 different options for each year), and to also schedule an appointment to have them installed. I hope this helped!
