Has anyone ever attempted to replace the Trunk/Fuel Door release cable before on a coupe? Mine rusted out and snapped yesterday...pain in the ***.
I have the trunk tied down from the inside and I had to crawl in and open the gas door from the inside cuz I was on fumes..lol.
Car is supposed to go in Monday morning but if it were possible I would just put the damn thing in myself.

Dude, for the trouble even I would go to the dealer - my fuel door cable snapped last summer, had to go to Acura to have it fixed (my ONE warranty replacement). I was considering just buying some new cable from Princess Auto and DIY'in it, but since there WAS warranty coverage I decided to take it in. Good thing I didn't try it myself. They had to basically remove all the door sill panels and trunk lining so they could run the new cable, then make sure it was tensioned properly and whatnot, checking it repeatedly and readjusting. I watched it, doesn't look fun.

Mine had snapped some time aback and IMO it is very easy to replace. The fuel door and trunk release come as one cable. Just remove the leftside panel in the trunk and then on the driverside and also in the backseat and then your good to go.
My fuel release cable broke and the guy at the dealership tried telling me that it would cost $212 to fix. TWO HUNDRED AND TWELVE DOLLARS??!! What on Earth are they smoking over there? I told them forget it. I've read the few threads about this problem and it sounds like it can be DIY, but a tough DIY. I'll most likely take it to a mechanic, but I'm curious how to get access to the cable so that I can open the door in the meantime. It's a dumb question, but how do you remove the trunk lining to get at the cable? Do those plastic things holding it on just pop off? I don't want to break stuff.
