Intake Breather Hose

well today i got my intake, so i installed it.it was really easy and this was my first time. however, when i got the intake, it didnt come with a breather hose, so i thought i could use the stock one..Well the stock one was half an inch short so i clamped it at the ends so it could hold till tom..
my question is:

1. what is the purpose of this breather hose and what will be the consequences if i drove without it...i just want to know..thanks.

If you leave the hose off dirt can get in the head and intake. The crank case outlet allows the cylinder head to breath, I personally used a crank case breather element, it's a small filter on the cyl. head side, and pluged the intake side.

if you're talking about the hose that goes into the valve cover, that is the PCV fresh air inlet hose. it's purpose is the reduce hydrocarbon emissions by scavenging the crankcase vapors. it circulates fresh air from the air intake duct into the crankcase where it mixes with the blow-by gases before being drawn iby intake manifold vacuum through a pcv valve to the intake manifold.

if you don't mind hydrocabons and a cat that wears out faster, just put a small air filter over the intake piping's outlet.

Titleist71 can only hope to improve
just put a tiny filter on the end of your hose. thats what I did. then plug off the intake nipple or just go get some hose at NAPA and connect it up

you can use heater hose. I think its 5/8" hose that fits it right. Just clamp it on.
Any autoparts store has it.

Just go buy some hose like boilermaker said. There is no point to put the breather filter on, your not going to feel a diff and its a good way to ruin a cat faster.

The CCB I bought had a rubber piece that went into the actual filter cone, i just pulled that rubber piece off, since it only has a small opening, and stuck the huge hose that came with my CAI directly in the filter, then plugged the TB side.

I hope that helps...
