HELP!!! Big Problem
HELP!!! Big Problem
Ok, so I went to go get gas today and my gas door no longer opens. So I went to honda and they are wanting to charge me $170.00 to fix the thing. Anyone know how difficult this would be to fix on my own, if I even can?? Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

Don't pay to fix that ****... I know it's a pain in the *** but sometimes my gas door doesn't open either.
All you have to do is pop your trunk, pull the lining forward on the drivers side and reach in there and grab the gas door release cable. Turn it either clockwise or counter clockwise half a turn and the little **** holding the door shut will pull out. This will open your gas door... then once it's open... push the cable back in and turn it to lock it in place.
It might sound like it's really annoying but it honestly take me no more then 15 seconds to do it.
Save yourself the $170

find a parts car or a junkyard car and replace the gas door/trunk release cable assembly.
detach the lower trim pannel to get to the release cable and lever. then remove the lever retaining bolt and detach the cable from the release assembly.
then from inside the trunk, remove the plastic clips from the driver's side pannels to gain access to the fuel door assembly.
twist the cable 90 degrees to align the tabs on the striker assembly with the slots in the body and withdraw it into the rear compartment. detach the trunk lid release cable from the trunk lid latch.
remove the left door sill plate, the rear seat and the left rear quarter pannel. pull the carpet back and detach all the cable retaining clips.
from the trunk, pull the cable assembly towards the rear of the car.
to install, just reverse the process.
you just saved yourself $170 - parts.

would this be similar to my trunk release problem?...altho my problem seems to be with the lock itself and not the actual assembly
