HELP Clearing Headlights!

Ok, I understand everything right now on how to clear my headlights. I keep hearing that I should like heat up the headlamps to get the adhesive sticking the two pieces of the headlamp together apart, is this really necessary? Lastly, how much silicon should I put around the headlamp backing in order to have a good seal, alot of a little? Also, do I let the silicon set for like an hour on the back half of the headlight, then put the clear half on and clip it, or do I put the silicon on, then put the clear half on and then wait for an hour before I clip it? Sorry about these qestions, but I don't fully understand the DIY section. Thanks!

well here's what i did.........

You don't really need to heat up your headlight because your car is new.
The adhesive used to seal the headlight is still soft. So it should come right
apart with a little pressure. Use two flathead to split the headlight. One
flat tohold the piece open, the other to rip the adhesive apart.

You should use as much silicon as possible, make sure to use clear silicon.
Leaking out the silicon is ok. Just use your finger to make a nice little film
over the cracks with the extra silicon that is leaking out the cracks.

I found it useful to put the clip on oen at a time after i finish putting the headlight
together and i was using the extra silicon to make a film on the headlight cracks.
Just clip it on after the headlight is together...... it's much easier. WHen you clip
the clip on you will have silicon oozing out. That's good, it means the headlight
is closing up.

I hope that helps man......... I've done it three times already...... it gets easier each time.

but you don't have to let the silicon sit before you put the two pieces together right? Also, in the DIY section, could you better explain step 6 when removing your bumper, I don't understand at all what to do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No, just apply a bead of silicone in the black part of the housing, and then squeeze it together with the clear part, you don't have to wait. Then, make sure the entire seam, where the black meets the clear, is sealed with silicone from the outside.

Removing the front bumper is a lot easier than it sounds. 4 push clips on top, 4 on bottom, plus 2 long push clips on bottom, a couple phillips head screws on bottom, and the thing just "pops" off. Have a blanket underneath, or someone else to grab the end you dont have in your hands, cause when it pops off, it will hit the ground. Just pull out one side starting from the fenderwell, and pull out a little under the headlight, do the same on the other side, and it will be off.

ok, thats great. I understand everything that I am supposed to do now. I will tell you all how it went. I will make sure though that I put alot of silicon between those two pieces so they don't let moisture in and out.

when i put them back together I just filled up the whole "channel" with silicone and clipped them together. A lot of silicone leaked out and I just scraped it away with a knife. Let it dry overnight and put it back together. No leaks or nothing. If you use too much silicone you can always remove some but if you don't use enough you're gonna have to do it all over again and use enough
