hardest black headlight problem question ever!

first of all, its unbelievable that this would happen, given the complete failure of all my mods lately. I did the black headlights diy, turned out great, then I noticed that the clear shell of the lights, which were resting in the garage had got a little of the black sealant on the inside of the housing, so I took some goof off and rubbed it off. To my surprise, it became cloudy and gritty, looked bad, so I thought I'd put more goof off on it to thin out the white stuff. Well, now the entire housing is garbage, and since I smoked a doobie just before, I also tried to remove a little paint from the corner of the other one, and voila, fu*&ed also. Anywho, wtf? there must be a coating of something on the interior of the housing because the outside is fine when you use goof off to remove bug guts and stuff. This totally sucks. Is there any small chance in the universe that someone would actually be able to fix this?

Ummm....maybe wet sanding the inside of the headlight lens? Would take a while I'm sure.

its unreal. Its like a whole layer turned white, cracked and started to peel, but just kind of melted into the light. The worst part is that I just got my konis in, my scratched trunk and bumper repainted, my brand new rims that got screwed up from a crappy alignment shop are done tomorrow, and now I still can't drive my car because of this rediculous bulltihs. I want to burn the car to the ground. I'm cursed.

What happened is that the Goof Off actually melted the surface of the plastic. The naptha in the solution eats almost anything. Wet sanding may work to take the layer of melted plastic off.

ahah damn i did something similar

when i blacked out mine i accidently painted the inside of my lens just a tad

stupid me thought paint thinner was a good idea to get it out

so i rubbed some on and part of my lens became cloudy, i drove around with them like that for a while

then i decide to wet sand them with a very fine grit sand paper 1500
then i used something called meguirs plastX to polish, and its a major improvement

i say try this if your lens are just cloudy,
if they seem like they are peeling or melting then dont' bother
