Headlight bulbs
I have the PIAA extreme H4 headlight bulbs, and about a week ago the passenger bulb died, 2 days ago the other bulb died. I had a bulb die previously with less expensive bulbs I bought from auto dynamic. Why the hell are they dying so quick (I had the piaas for since around september I believe.
Thanks!

Russps: Maybe you just got some bad bulbs? None the less PIAA has a 1 year warrante on their bulbs if they blow out. Just take it back to the shop, and if they say no, send em to PIAA. Have fun!

Are these your first aftermarket bulbs which claim to be brighter? It's normal. Aftermarket companies want to make a brighter bulb on the same wattage. The only way that's possible is to concentrate the heating of the element within the bulb. That means materials that offer more resistance to the flow of electricity and thinner filaments. This produces more light, but at an expense. That expense is bulb longevity.
Approximately a week ago I also installed PIAA extreme H4 headlight bulbs. So far no problems. I took a lot of precautions to avoid touching the bulbs with my finger and avoided having the bulbs touch any oily/dirty surfaces. In some posts I've read using latex exam gloves is a good solution. I didn't have any gloves so instead I covered my hand in a plastic sandwich bag before taking the bulbs out of their containers so the oil in my hands didn't contaminate the bulbs.

Yeah, that's a good point. That's true for any bulb that burns as brightly as the H4's. Especially bulbs that burn hotter though like the ones which produce more light from the same wattage as ordinary bulbs.
hehe yeah i tested this theory when i was wee little on a halogen bulb for a lamp in my room, i didn't believe my mom, (i was like 5 or 6) and so i smeared my hands all over the bulb then plugged it in and turned it on, it was on for about 10-15 min then pow, then angry mom cuz bulb wasn't cheap

Ok, I bought them on August 29th, and they are burned out already and that is normal?!? You gotta be [explative]ing kidding me. Yes, I know that PIAA has the warantee, and I plan on bringing them back to the store early next week. I also was very careful not to touch the bulbs. Would these problems have been avoided had I purchased an upgrade harness?
