Clutch question
Does anyone know a place that sells just like a street disk seperate? I want something that catches a bit better then stock like a act stage 1 or something but i dont want some clutch that more difficult to push in. I know you can use stock pressure plate with a new disk but i cant find any places that sell just a disk that will work. Any ideas?
u can buy the act Heavy duty ( stage 1 as u called it) disc without buying pressure plate. I think its smart to get the pressure plate tho, my ACT HD wasnt that hard to engage, smart investment if u have a bit of power.

Also the clutch disk itself has to mate to some thing virgin if you will. If your pressure plate has been worn it was worn to your old disk. For the best results its always best to turn your fly wheel and get all new components. Now as for a good clutch that has very close peddle feel it would be a dual ceneter force dual friction clutch. They make a clutch that will hold quite alot, they are pricey but in the auto world you almost always get what you pay for. Good Luck

Really humm. My buddy is running one on his 1987 turbo2 shelby(front drive) and it makes 185 hp that clutch holds good and he loves the peddle feel. As far as act i have not heard there rep yet. I just know that center force hold very well I am going to run one when mine goes(honda) and when I start the build up of of 408 stroker.
I've heard that ACT and Exedy are the best as far as durability and you can chose the plate/disc combo for pedal feel. For Centerforce, my minimally modded (I-H-E) 95 Civic DX economy ate it for breakfast. It was a stage one and was slipping only like 35k after it was installed, and I was only doing basic everyday driving, nothing hardcore. And it wasn't that it wasn't installed right cause I saw the disc and it was totally gone... Mine isn't the only story like that. After this happened I asked my buddy and he said the same thing to me. Twas then that I heard my first reccomondation for ACT or Exedy. Ever since then that's all I've heard to put in. Just my findings. I have yet to replace the clutch on my new vic, but it's gonna be either of those two.

Well that is good to know. Back a few years ago centerforce was the only real game in town. However I have heard of a new clutch. I can not remember the name but I had it priced for a truck of mine 4 banger and it was 700 bucks it was made from kevlar. 90% more holding power then stock. I will look into act a little better mabye i will run it as well!
ACT and Exedy offer all types of clutch setups with plate/disc combos. They offer everything from stock replacement up to hard-tuned mutherfukkers. I'm sure you'll find sumthin you like. And if you look around a little bit you can find a great price...
