Lowering affect intake??

ok i searched and didn't find it...so my question is this. i am gonna lower my car, and i just installed CAI into my lx. i notice that the filter sits awfully low, right above the splashguard, actually. i was wondering if once i lowered it, i would be at a greater risk for hydrolock? it hardly ever rains here in so. cal. even now i am kinda afraid to ride thru puddles and stuff, cuz i think that my filter will be submerged and suck up water. so if i lower my ride, should i get the bypass valve, or should i just not worry about it, since it hardly rains, ever?

Hey,
You should be fine I just got my car lowered and had to drive 60 miles home in the rain it is was perfectly fine, I have an R1 CAI which is identical to the AEM, so no worries here in so cal, just don't go through any foot deep puddles.

why not just get the bypass valve anyway, it doesnt hurt to be safe, you never know when you might accidently run into a puddle that is deeper than you thought. just my opinion

To be safe, get the aem bypass. It's better to be safe than sorry.

bybass valves are a waste of money, you could get springs instead

What would you rather pay? $50 for a bypass, or a few thousand for a new engine and be without a car for awhile. Get the bypass. You never know how deep a puddle is until you hit it, and it only takes one deep one.
