When Brakes are applied.

So when my car is sitting outside for sometime. Such as when I'm at work or at school. When I'm either pulling out of the school or work parking lot and applying the brakes, a large squealing sound is heard coming from the rear...I had the pads changed 2.5 months back and just changed my rotors. Doesn't anyone know or have any idea what the squeal could be? It's driving me nuts.

i have that too....kinda comes and goes, but only in reverse. the dealer told me it was b/c the pads are worn and they need to be replaced so it's basically metal on metal. weird that it only does it in reverse

It wouldn't be the pads though...When you're pads are getting really worn down, you'll hear a squeal because the pads are designed that way to let u know when their low.

Well having pads and rotors changed has nothing to do with the drums and shoes in the back. If you're hearing intermittent squealing, chances are there's some scale or build up on the drum surface and the shoe is working its way through it. If its constant, you may have worn the shoes out. Only way to tell is to pull the drum cover off... there's no indicators in the shoes.

I had the same problem. I changed my pads and the noise went away.
