I'll asume you are talking about spark not valve timing

why do you want to retard the timing? you using NOS or a turbo kit I don't know about??? or are you just trying to fuel your car with vodka?

I'd pay good money to advance the timing in this **** in it's all motor state - since it's currently timed to use regular even with the 9.9:1.

there are plenty of devices you can hook up to retard the timing (hks makes a 6 channel unit you can use)

You have to bypass your ecu...why would you retard (NOS, Turbo)?? Advance it 2 deg...but make sure you run premium fuel...cant run cheap 87 octane gas anymore.

I'm wasn't sure if advancing the timing on our generation civic was possible. I was told it wasn't because we have a direct ingnition setup?? Something like that... but please fill us in on how to advance the timing if it is possible

Why would you want to even mess with it if the engine has no forced induction?

you can't adjust timing on a DIS!! Timing is controlled by the ECM on regualar 1.7L engines. however if you have VTEC it is controlled using the optical wheel along with ECM depending on engine RPM and driving conditions. if you have VTEC the timing is beening constantly adjusted.
