Help with Auto Tranny
Help with Auto Tranny
I was on my home from school today and my car started acting wierd. Everytime I would stop it would act as if it were going to stall out. Its hard to explain but it felt like when you stall a stick shift, you can feel the car shuddering i gues would be the best word. The RPM's drop real low, almost to zero when this happens. I just wanted to know if anyone can give me a clue as to what this is and what to do about it. The car goes to Honda Monday for tire rotation and an oil change. I figure I just wont drive it the rest of the weekend and let them take a look Monday. Thanks again for the help.

How many miles? The dealership will probably try to sell you a tranny. Honda automatic transmissions suck ***. We replace 1-2 everyday. Which dealership are you gonna take it to?
i got my transmisison replaced under warranty so make sure u get it checked out. fuchs is right honda transmisison suck. they are very sensitive transmissions compared to most, on the contrary our engines are freakin awesome. they are very strong, but unfortunatley have crappy trannys.

well, never say never :P
mine crapped out at 35,000 km. Abosulutly no reason. I was driving one day parked. Started my car again put it in drive, acting like it was in neutral. $120 tow later honda gave me a new tranny.
Thats ZERO neutral drops, zero anything. Car was maintained by honda at that point in its life.
Sorry it took me a while to get back to this(computer problems). I'd like to think that I don't suck at driving but a big thanks for throwing that out there. The problems eased up and my dad and I concluded that it was bad gas. I had filled up at a station I dont normally go to and I guess that was it. There was/is no check engine light. If its not the bad gas then idle control problem sounds like it could be it. The car has 40,000 miles and I do take care of it. Thanks for the help guys.

thats what happened to my other one... very small hairline crack and once they took apart the whole thing, all my gears were almost melted.
Where can I find one gear ?

I wish I got mine sooner. My car already has almost 30k, but I've changed the fluid a few times already. Mine is a B&M supercooler 70264 basically a small box that I wedged between condenser and radiator. You just run hoses to it so the fluid passes through before returning to the tranny.

cool, ya i was just looking a couple up.. basically its a rad for ur tranny.
Good to hear gear. I'm not exactly sure how much clicks was on the used tranny that I got but it runs like new, and its a 2002 ( my car is a 2001 ) so I think it might just help it live though a couple more years.

oh, and does tranny cooler work for both stick-shift and auto or just for auto?

on my old car when i stopped the RPMs would drop so low the car started shaking like it was about to die or stall out. couple weeks later i needed a new alternator...
ive had this problem too for a long time too, but so far i havent had to replace anything. it'll do it once at a stop but then the next stop its fine. when i park in my driveway i hold the brake, put it in neutral, put the handbrake on, then put the car in park. would putting it in neutral cause any probs for my tranny?
