ex and lx engine difference.
ex and lx engine difference.
What is the difference between the EX engine and the LX/DX engine?
Is it only the head with all its components?I want to know because Im going to buy some aftermarket parts and if I make the head swap I want to put the correct parts.

Exhaust manifold is shorter on an EX and the cat is under the car. LX has a cat built into it. The compression ratio is different EX=9.9, LX=9.5. Trannys are a little different too. Thats all I can think of besides whats already metioned.

Okay...so far yall have missed the biggest difference--an EX has a VTEC engine and an LX has the non-VTEC engine. There is a significant difference between the two engines. The non-VTEC engine is a total dog and it is a complete waste of time trying to build it up.
Also, regarding the non-VTEC engine there is a big difference in performance between the 5 spd and the auto. The auto is a complete dog. I have an '04 with an 5 spd and my wifey has an '05 with an auto. Her car is SLOW!!! Not that mine is fast...cuz it is not...but I definitely have more power at the wheels than her. In other words, auto's lose a lot of power through the drivetrain.

quick silver, how is the vtec engine a "better platform" for building the engine when you say u plan on doing an engine swap anyway.. and what is a k20z1?
the non vtec engine has lower compression which is supposedly better for forced induction such as turbo..
and also there is not a big enough difference between the power of the two engines to make it substantial. (Feels to be like the non-vtec has a lil bit more torque) but this is just my opinion and what i think so dont count me on all this
