A/C taken out?

you should not have to take anything out, pump hoses, etc. just buy a shoter belt and by-pass the ac pulley then when you want your ac back just put the factory size belt back on.

^ yep.. unless its a track car you may want to use it at somepoint.. chances are that will be in the middle of a heatwave.. and yer not gunna want to spend 6 hours putting it back in when you could just changes the belts in an hour..

i took it out this morning. since i have installed the AEM pulleys it really wasnt that hard to figure all of this stuff out. i could put it back in like an hour or maybe two.

Just for the sake of tech... Taking off the A/C belt really frees up no horsepower at all - in fact, there's only a slight resistance (probably undetectable on the dyno) when the A/C compressor is not engaged. When it's not engaged, it merely spins freely. It's only when the A/C button is pushed and the compressor comes to life that power is lost. The major benefit of "removing A/C" comes in the form of weight savings - you take off the compressor, condensor, pipes and hoses... This cannot be done with a simple belt change. Not worth the money for a shorter belt just to bypass the pulley.
Yeah maybe something like 50lbs... now it depends - is 50lbs worth the comfort of air conditioning? If you live in a cooler climate, ditch it... You can always reinstall the whole system and get it recharged by a shop for a few bucks.

Keep all the hardware, keep all the bolts, and it comes out relatively easily. The 7th gen's A/C removal should be easier than my 2nd gen Integra since all the A/C components easier to get at. But if you think you'll want the A/C in the future, you're better off leaving it alone. It does take a little work to get everything in and out and recharged, but it's nothing too difficult.

First you need to go to a shop to have your system evacuated. you cant just open up your system at your house. First it is against the law to release refrigerant into the air, second you pull off one of those lines with high pressure in it, you could be seriously injured. It isnt a 5 min process either. And it is not going to be some cheap thing. After of which. Taking out all the hoses and condensor, compressor, evaporator, reciever-drier, possible the whole evaporator case including the heater core, blower motor and all the wiring. It is a difficult process. And putting it back in isnt all that simple. If you think every component is easy to get at, your wrong. You need to remove the whole dash to get to the evaporator. It will take a while with the compressor. and when you do get it all back in, you are going to need to replace all the o-rings at all the fittings, possibly the receiver drier, it is best to replace that since it is the part of the system that contains descicant which stores and dries the refrigerent as it comes out of the condensor as a high pressure liquid. Also removing moisture in the system. then when you go back to the shop, you need to have new refrigerent and oil charged back into the system. not a few bucks. Also you need to make sure you have no leaks in the system. It isnt a matter of just pulling parts on and off, there are alot of things you need to make sure work properly when putting the components back together. All of this just to lose 50 LBS. , not worth it. you will still have a slow civic with all of it removed. even a experienced technician would take awhile to do all of this. you have to make sure every part works properly. There is alot too.

well if u guys need to know where its all located at. the compressor is on the bottom right side closest to the front of the car. and u can take it from there as a good starting point.
The only reason to remove the A/C on our cars is if you are going to race the car, in which case every ounce counts, however, there is a mess of stuff that would have to come off, the little radiator thing your condensor, the hoses, the pump, and I don't know about you but as i recall to upgrade to A/C on a new DX you are looking at about $900.00 on a new one, I wouldn't do it.
