short shifter

i have a type r short shifter and i wanna put it in but i've realize the metal thing that pulls the gear is weld on to the shifter...ne 1 acturally did it ?

you mean your shifter that is installed NOW is welded or do you need to weld to install the other one?

did you buy your car new?

nah i mean the stock 1 has a metal welded on to the shifter
the 1 i wanted to install needed the metal to weld on to it so it can pull the gears

what brand is it... of all the short shifter adapters i have seen just bolt right up and over the welds.. all u gotta do is remove the shift cable and re attach it to the adapter

thats for the 6th gen.

we have cable linkage shifter.. its a lot different. (hence no vibration from the stick)

take a look at the Revo SS.. or the short shifter adapters.. thats why most are short shifter adapters..

do a lil search on it. should be obvious when u took off the console that the shifter u bought isnt meant for our car.

so when we buy the ss for ours it already have a welded metal on to it?
all we gotta do it take it out n snap on the cable n rdy to shift?

yup the revo ss is a complete swap.

the B&M SS will require the use of the stock housing, u'll have to take it apart and put in the shift stick.

the adapters, you just put the adapter on the stock shifter bracket, and they change the shifting point.

there's picture of the revo SS, or adapters on my site: http://home.socal.rr.com/capyoda

if you check in the tech section.. there's picture of short shifter installed, I think there's a few DIY.. so you can get a better idea of how these things work.
