Clutch Question
Clutch Question
hey guys I have a quick question....today in the morning when I was going to school when I pressed the clutch it made a noise like a cable was rubbing against something.....its not JUST a noise because when I took the pedal up and down slowly I felt it in my foot too....this isn't the normal squeak because that is already there aside from this...anyone have ANY idea what it can be? After driving for about 10 minutes it seemed to stop, not the squeak but that feeling of cables rubbing....the only mod I have is an AEM V2 I remember someone saying about clutch cable being moved when the intake is installed? Im not sure about any of this...any comments, opinions, ideas?

We don't have cable clutches. They're Hydraulic.
Its probably the return spring under the dash, they seem to bind up from now and then. Take the panel under the steering column off, reach up there with either lithium grease or anti-sieze and slobber the spring in it. See if that takes care of the sound and feeling.

clutch for civics are hydraulic? I didn't know that lol I thought it was a cable....thats what I was informed..When I went to volant they told me to "install" their intake I had to relocate my clutch cable.....also when I opened my hood and pressed the clutch up and down while being outside of the car it seemed MUCH louder when the hood was open...so does that mean its from under the hood? Or that spring your talking about can be much louder when hood is open?
maybe its going to be a recall? I've also heard of a lot of people having trouble with putting their car in reverse.....has anyone solved this spring problem...not to mention its annoying...it makes u feel like something is gonna rip any second
well, i think its designed to not go into reverse while you're moving forwards....but sometimes mine just wont go into reverse when im sitting still. My friend has an '84 celica manual, and the same thing happens to him, so I guess its just manuals in general.
About the clutch thing, does anyone notice that if, like in a parking lot, when you accelerate in first gear, then put in the clutch and slow down you hear a loud click-like sound from the engine bay?

If you have problems going into reverse, slowly let the clutch out and just tap it so it turns the mainshaft a little bit, or try putting the shifter into 4th gear and then reverse.
I think reverse is going to be a recall.....my dad was saying someone he knows has an 04 Civic Coupe EX and he got his whole tranny replaced when he complained to honda about his tranny sometimes not wanting to go into reverse
