fuel return help!!!

I have a question maybe someone can answer. I am in the process of doing a fuel return setup and I have the -6AN bulkhead fitting entering the fuel tank lid. The bulkhead fitting looks like it'll aim the gas at the fuel pump. My question is, does the fuel pump get completely submerged in gas? Or would I have to route the gas away from aiming at the fuel pump.

there are some wires that connects to fuel pump...so if the fuel pump is completely submereged, those wires will be in the gas too? It will not ignite the fire?
