Engine Noise... manifold???

I had to get new tires and I noticed that there is a wierd noise coming from the manifold area when I only rev the car.

The dude says it may be my manifold gasket or the manifold itself.

What do you all think?

BTW, I have a 2001 LX Sedan with about 154k.

Yup 154k, besides this noise the car is still running excellent.

Could be just a loose heatshield on the mani that's rattling.

can you describe the noise?

Saying a noise comming from the engine doesn't give us much to go on.

Is it a short fast tapping? Or is it more of a thud? Does it sound like metal on metal? or is it an air noise?

Exclamation

I have the same sound...I can't stand it....It doesn't come when I rev the engine but when I'm in first gear and slowly start to accel. It's a sound that works parallel with the speed of the engine at about1-2k rpm....The sound is metal and air tapping rapidly....And the faster u accel the faster it ....does it's muffled "dat dat dat dat dat".....Like is it my tranny??? Am I low on fluid somewhere...cuz I have done all my tune ups...but hell it's ****ing garbage....and soo noisey and it's getting louder.....I have about 80,000km on the car....

Aftermarket intakes alot of times will rattle. The fipk and aem both touch stuff and vibrate, but you can put foam in some places. I still get rattle when turning the car off.

^Hmm not sure about the AEM....I think it might be something else...cuz its on pretty tight....But I tried it again and I got vibration or muffled tapping rattled noise from 1st gear up to 3-4k rpm and then 2nd gear at about 2-4k rpm....but once I accel faster you can't really hear it nemore...

I only notice this when Im on idle then I rev the car. Sounds more like fast metal vibration.

you guys need to inspect your exhasut manifold for stress cracks. the top part of the lx manifold is 2 peices stamped together with very small shitty welds, took my someone i know about a year to figure out why his car sounded like a putt-putt ford.

look at the top part of this header, the outside is a big weld, stamping the 2 together, look in the middle of the 4 ports, between port 2 and 3, that small line you see is actually a weld, the most likely where you leak is coming from

So is there any solution to the sound? I am looking to buy an 03 Civic EX 5spd, but it has the rattling sound at low rpm and low gears. The higher the RPM the less audible it becomes. It is somewhere in the right part of the engine compartment... Wondering if it's anything serious, coz that's what puts me off from buying that car right now. Thanks a bunch..
