You'd have to change the cam.

In our cars we dont have a separate lobe for vtec. Ok try to picture this, with our cars there are 2 intake valves per cyl. One cam follower works on your typical lobe, the other rides on a lobe that only opens the valve a little bit to stop fuel from puddling up behind the valve. When vtec engages, a pin slides over and locks the 2 cam followers together and they follow the bigger cam lobe only, with the smaller lobe being bypassed altogether. Just to give you an idea of how it works. There actually is no separate vtec lobe in our cars. I have the whole head and cam apart right now in my bedroom. So basically you will need a new cam or a regrind or something and some economy will hafta be lost for the bigger cam.
