Someone explain why we need coolant circulating the throttlebody.
Someone explain why we need coolant circulating the throttlebody.
Lets see...when the engine is cold durring winter months theres no fluid flowing anyway. When the engine heats up residual heat is transfered to it anyway. So basically the coolant is flowing when the car is allready warmed up which makes no sense. So if you did the bypass mod then theres no r4ason to reverse it durring the cold months.

Oil stays liquid to -60F, antifreeze about -35 to -40. So fluid still flows, otherwise your engine would run dry and burn up in no time.
Just keep telling yourself that you don't need the warm coolant in the throttle body, all the way until you're sucking in moist sub-freezing air and your throttle body freezes, locking the butterfly open.

You guys are great - I love peoples logic on this board / intarweb....
The freakin' coolant runs up to the throttle body for the IACV (Idle Air Control Valve) - this valve determines the idle of the car, its in the Helms Manual, its on numerous web sites - READ AND LEARN! Doing the "bypass" **** can fvck up your idle. IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH VAPOR LOCK OR COLD INTAKE CHARGE TEMPS!
