Timing Belt Change Problems
Timing Belt Change Problems
Just changed my timing belt. Started it up, it hummed. Took it for a test drive and it quit after 200 yards. Each time I try to start it it starts and quits right away. Anyone know whether it will start at all if timing belt was put on wrong, or could it be something else I should try. I think I have to take it all apart and check my timing marks.
Thought I was done.

Well you need to set the cam timing. Don't ask me how, I don't have a clue. Something about lining up marks on the pulley at tdc and the cam gear pointing UP. I think my timing's screwed a little, but the car still runs. I could probably tell you what to do in a week once I get my service manual. But hopefully other members will post. Send a PM to Tinman-he's very knowledgeable about car diagnostics.
