heat sheilds...

as some of you already know i recently installed a hi flow cat header and a cat back, well the cat. converter was banging against the underbody of the car and i took it to have it looked at. well to make a long story short i am still hearing the noise like before and was curious if it would really hurt my car for me to unbolt and remove the heat sheild above the hi- flow cat. converter?

That's to keep the heat in, so removing it most likely won't get it hot enough for the catalyst to work.

He is talking about the aluminum heat shield bolted to the body. Removing it will not hurt the body at all. You may notice the floor a bit warmer but not by much.

yeah, I removed mine too-- it's clearly away from anything electrical. I also bought some heat resistant insulation to put between the pipe and undercarriage of my Greddy Evo II-- there's a loud vibration under the shifter.

local home depot should have something.. just make sure it has a high-temp rating. I bought a 4' x 6' roll, reflective style.
