Cone filter cleaning/oiling
Cone filter cleaning/oiling
I have a short ram intake with one of those cone type filters and was wondering if anyone cleans their's or oils them like those older K&N ones? I've heard some say yes and some say i dno't need to.
thanks
thanks
The cotton filters are useless without the oil. Got to oil it every time you wash it.
As far as washing it only twice a year... Your call. Mine sits down under my front bumper and collects dust pretty quickly. That's why I wash it as frequently as I do.
My mustang filter gets cleaned every 50 passes.
Dust is hell on internals...

Can't tell from the picture, but the shape and color look like a K&N-type cotton filter. Is it pleated? Kinda looks like it. If so, it's likely a K&N type and needs intermittent cleaning/oiling.
With the SRI, twice a year is probably more than enough. K&N says clean every 25k under hard use. I do it more than that just 'cause mine sucks up crap from under the bumper.
